Acne Safe Fabric Softener

One thing we have learned during our years of clearing acne is that moms (and dads too) love fabric softener and dryer sheets.

When we share our laundry recipe secret for clear skin, many parents gasp in horror! What-oh-what are they going to do without their beloved fabric softener and dryer sheets?!

Commercial fabric softener and dryer sheets coat laundry in chemicals and pore clogging ingredients which are detrimental for someone suffering from acne.

So, today we offer this do-it-yourself method for softening the load with our acne-safe fabric softener recipe.

Soften the Load with our Acne Safe Fabric Softener Recipe

Mildly acidic (5 to 6 percent), white vinegar will not only soften clothes, but also freshen the scent, and it is especially effective at removing and preventing mildew odors. The mild acid is just strong enough to dissolve the residue alkaline soap residue, which is where the softening action comes from.

Although there is some use for it in cooking, white distilled vinegar may be labeled as “cleaning vinegar” on the store shelves. Make sure to use white distilled vinegar — not cider vinegar — because apple cider vinegar contains brownish tannins that can potentially stain clothes.

Replace dryer sheets with wool balls to soften and reduce static from linens and clothing  in a green, all-natural way. They also help bed sheets stay untangled during the drying process as well as keep pet hair off of clothes.

Toss three to four wool balls in each load for optimal results. Wool balls last for more than 1,000 loads (2-3 years), saving you money as well!

One of the first steps we recommend for clearing is to clean up laundry routines. If you LOVE fabric softener and dryer sheets, we have some safe alternatives for you with this acne safe fabric softener. Grab some white vinegar and wool balls, and let’s get you clear!

Cheers to clear!
