Plant Power Fast Food May Produce Pimples

Plant Power – fast food plant food!

What a genius idea, right?!

Do you want clear skin?

Sammy and I decided to take a field trip over to Plant Power…we ordered up a bunch of yummy sounding fast food, and we were left feeling like we had a gut bomb in our stomach, and the pimples were sure to follow.  While we were pleasantly surprised by the great taste and wide variety of their menu items, we were equally shocked with disapproval to learn some things as well.

Plant based doesn’t always equate to acne-safe. There is no cure-all for problematic skin. However, with that being said there are still a few things to keep in mind while you’re eating on the go.

Pros

Plant Power sources all of their ingredients from local farmers, natural foods distributors and a direct relationship with manufactures. If you’re health conscious – this is a major win!

The taste is surprisingly similar to some of your classic favorite junk food spots (*cough-cough* we’re lookin’ at you In-N-Out).

If you’re a kombucha lover – Plant Power’s is delicious. If you’ve never tried kombucha – give it a shot, it’s loaded with probiotics that are great for your skin!

Cons

Soy results in more acne. That’s where the horror begins and ends here…

After eating our Plant Power lunch, Sammy and I realized most of the foods we ate contained soy!

Whoopsie.

Don’t do what we did!

Soy has a reputation for being a great alternative to meat, and it’s true that soy has tons of benefits, but it can also wreak havoc on your skin if you are acne-prone.

We advise our clients to “steer clear of soy if you want clear skin”. (See what I did there?)

If you are looking for healthy fast food, I am not so sure there is such a thing. Both Sammy and I felt like we had a gut bomb in our stomach after our “plant” indulgence.

Acne Approved Items

We’ve compiled a rundown of our Plant Power field trip findings and we think you’ll be interested to know that not ALL plant food is approved for our acne clients – but here are the few menu items you can eat.

  • Classic Burger — order with black bean patty and no mayo
  • Holy Guacamole Burger — order with black bean patty and no chipotle
  • French Fries
  • Onion Rings
  • Egg Muffin / Egg Croissant
  • Raw Tacos
  • Cheese Slices
  • Juices
  • Kombucha

The Take-Away

Beware my friends!

If there’s one lesson to glean from today’s post about the latest craze in fast food, it is to always dig deeper!

Plant Power fast food joint is taking the OC by storm. There’s a line a mile long to get into this place, and all I can think is I should be handing out my business card to every car that pulls away from the drive through window.

There are only a limited number of offerings on the menu that would actually be acne-safe. Most of their items are laden in soy — which means a profuse pimple explosion could follow.
