Pore Clogging Ingredients

Are pore clogging ingredients plugging up your pores?

Can you believe ingredients in your makeup products and other cosmetics are sabotaging your healthy clear skin? When we purchase skincare products, we automatically assume these products are harmless – because how else would they have gotten on the shelves of our favorite beauty supplier, right?

Do you want clear skin?

One of the most overlooked causes of acne is hidden in the ingredient deck of some of our favorite beauty brands.

And the worst part about it is… No government agency oversees what additives or ingredients are actually going into our skincare products. So companies can essentially claim their products promote clear skin and still have pore clogging ingredients in their formulas.

Pretty deceiving isn’t it?

Beauty Buyers Beware of Pore Clogging Ingredients

Do you have haircare or skincare products that say “Non-Comedogenic” or “Won’t Clog Pores” on the bottle?

You’ll be surprised to know that many of your favorite cleansers, foundations, moisturizers and more may contain pesky pore clogging ingredients – even if they say they don’t!

“Oil-Free” products can be comedogenic.

“Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLS) Free” doesn’t mean it’s acne-safe. SLS is not only a pore-clogging ingredient, it’s also an irritant.

The negative reputation of sodium lauryl sulfate has spread widely and manufacturers are desperate to hide it. Over 100 different names are used. Some are ridiculously obvious, but some are sneakier. And, even if a product doesn’t contain SLS, it may contain other pore cloggers!

“Natural” oils are some of the worst offenders. Cocoa butter and coconut oil are found in many “Organic” skin care lines. Natural doesn’t mean acne-safe.

Consumers are drawn to natural products because they believe them to be safe.

At this point, you might be asking yourself, “Why would a manufacturer put an ingredient that will clog pores into a skin care product?”

There are lots of reasons. Certain ingredients give make-up its color. Fragrance gives lotions and potions scents that consumers have come to love. Some notorious pore-clogging ingredients give products a smooth, elegant feel. But the same properties that make it feel smooth and elegant also make it glide down into your pores and stay there, blocking them.

Did you know that companies often change the ingredients of common products without you knowing?

As if all that wasn’t enough to make you crazy – Did you know that most skincare, haircare and cosmetic brands are often changing their product formulas?

Even your most tried-and-true cosmetics could be the reason you’re suddenly breaking out!

You could have found a formula that is safe; but you also may have to change it because they’ve added pore clogging ingredients that aren’t good for your acne prone skin.

Not all products in any one specific brand are safe…

For instance, Bare Minerals has always been thought of as being acne safe. Except, they have some products that contain pore clogging ingredients–not safe at all. MAC makeup is infamously known for its pore clogging makeup, but they actually have several products that won’t break you out.

There are thousands of cosmetic ingredients so it would be next to impossible to know whether each one of them is pore-clogging or not.

Sound like a lot of work trying to figure all this out?

That’s where we come in…!
