Spark Your Heart With a Practice of Self-Love

As we wind down the month of February (can you believe we are almost into March already!?), I wanted to share something with you about self-love and how it correlates to our body/mind/skin health. There is an underlying concept that emphasizes nurturing and cultivating a deep sense of love and compassion for oneself when we bring balance to these areas of our lives.

For the past two years, the core value of cultivating self-love has been at the forefront of everything in my personal life. I have experienced and seen the direct benefits of having a strong daily self-love practice in my life. Upon this discovery, I can tell you how implementing such practices in your life will radically help you change the “skin you are in.”

Do you want clear skin?

I like to think of self-love as a way of sparking your heart and feeling into expansive amounts of  gratitude, love, compassion, forgiveness and joy.

There is such a strong correlation between what we do in the clinic to help you clear your skin and our capacity for self-love that I couldn’t help but talk about it with you here.

Improved Mental Health

Self-love promotes positive self-esteem and self-worth, reducing the likelihood of experiencing conditions like anxiety, depression, and stress. It fosters resilience in the face of challenges and helps individuals develop healthier coping mechanisms.

Daily Affirmations

Start your day by affirming positive statements about yourself. Repeat affirmations such as “I am worthy,” “I am enough,” and “I love and accept myself unconditionally.” “I am beautiful.” Affirmations can help rewire your subconscious mind and reinforce positive self-talk.

Mindful Self-Compassion

Practice being kind and compassionate to yourself, especially during difficult times. Treat yourself with the same kindness and understanding that you would offer to a close friend facing a challenge. Cultivate awareness of your inner dialogue and replace self-criticism with self-compassion.

Self-Care Rituals

Engage in activities that nourish your body, mind, and spirit. This could include taking a warm bath, going for a nature walk, practicing yoga, journaling, listening to calming music, or indulging in a hobby you enjoy. Prioritize self-care as an essential part of your daily routine, including your skincare routines. 

Gratitude Practice

Cultivate gratitude for yourself and your journey. Reflect on your strengths, accomplishments, and the qualities that make you unique. Keep a gratitude journal and write down things you appreciate about yourself each day. Celebrate your progress and acknowledge your efforts, no matter how small. Take a moment to look in the mirror and realize ALL that you are doing for the beautiful skin you are in! Believe me…I know the hard work you are doing to clear your skin!

Setting Boundaries

Learn to set healthy boundaries that honor your needs and well-being. Say no to activities or relationships that drain your energy or compromise your values. Prioritize your time and energy on things that align with your goals and bring you joy.


Practice forgiveness, both towards yourself and others. Let go of past mistakes, regrets, and self-judgment. Release resentment and bitterness, and allow yourself to heal and move forward with an open heart.

At the core of my self-love practice is daily meditation using Dr. Joe Dispenza’s meditation practice and guided journeys. If you aren’t familiar with his work, I invite you to dive in!

His work centers around the idea that the mind has the power to heal the body and create positive changes in one’s life. Through practices such as meditation, visualization, and breathwork, individuals can learn to quiet the mind, access deeper states of consciousness, and tap into the body’s innate healing abilities.

The way in which my life has transformed since incorporating Joe’s daily meditations into my routine has been unbelievable. I am happy to help you get started with his work, if you are new to his world or the practice of meditation.

Remember that self-love is a journey, and it requires patience, practice, and commitment. Be gentle with yourself and allow yourself to embrace your imperfections as part of your unique beauty and humanity. By incorporating these practices into your daily life, you can spark your heart with self-love and cultivate a deeper sense of inner peace, joy, and fulfillment.

And…ultimately find love for the skin you are in!
