Dry Skin Cleansing Hacks

Is your skin dry right now? If so, this blog post is for YOU! These winter months cause our skin to become super dry, but it’s also super important to stay on top of your skin care routine and give it the care and attention it needs to stay beautiful! We have never talked about this before and it’s a new hack that we would love for you to embrace and add to your mix of tricks and tips for maintaining hydrated skin while staying clear.

What’s an unpopular truth in the skincare world? Here it is… Topical water depletes the skin of hydration. So that means that every time you wash your face with cleanser and water, you’re essentially drying out your skin.

Do you want clear skin?

If you are overly dry and your skin is feeling tight or even possibly flaking… Read on to learn more about our best tips to change that.

Let’s Get Started!

Tip #1 – Try our Crème Cleanser

Crème fresh…for your morning and/or evening cleanser. We love this cleanser and there are two ways to use it.

One of the biggest issues for acne prone clients is dehydration. Dehydration leads to inflammation which then leads to acne. The cream cleanser is an essential part of a skincare routine because it re-hydrates the skin.

People with acne are often resistant to using a cream cleanser because they are afraid it will break them out or not get their skin “clean enough”.

Step 1:

apply it to dry skin…add in some water with your fingertips and milk it up.  Remove with a wet 4×4 esthetic wipe.

Step 2:

Or you can use it in a dry cleanse method.  Apply it to dry skin… work it in with your fingertips and then remove with a dry 4 x 4 esthetic wipe.  Follow with Skin Dew Hydrating toner.

Tip #2 – Skip the Morning Cleanse

Yep… You read that correctly. If you are feeling overly dry, just go ahead and skip the morning cleanse.  You could begin your morning routine with a quick swipe of toner and then move on from there. Skipping the morning cleanse will help alleviate your dry skin.

Tip #3 – Avoid Hot Water

We know it’s cold and you would love to take a hot shower when you get home, but your skin begs you to think again! Avoid using hot water and opt for warm or cool water instead, as hot water removes oils from your skin and dries you out completely. Even when you are washing your hands and face in the sink, steer clear of hot water.

Listen carefully to your skin and give it what it truly needs. Sometimes less is really more.

Tip #4 – Use a Humidifier

Moisture alleviates the pain and irritation associated with dry skin, which can cause itching and burning. Sleeping with the humidifier on overnight provides you with softer skin come morning. But some also say that a humidifier not only helps combat dry skin, but also plumps it up enough to help smooth out any wrinkles you might have.

That’s a win, win!

Beach Beauty Bar Moisturizing Tips

Winter weather typically causes dryer than usual skin. If you are treating with us and are experiencing dry, flaky skin, here are a few moisturizing tips:

Sandwich Matte Moisture—apply one to two pumps before and after applying your exfoliating serum in the morning and night. Allow each layer to dry just a bit in between each application.

Add Moisture Boost + to your routine. Moisture Boost is a super hydrating hyaluronic serum which flies off our shelves. It can be used in place of Matte Moisture if you overly dry.

Switch your toner to Skin Dew for this dry skin season. Skin Dew is our best-selling toner and is so hydrating.

Use Ultra Solar Shield or Ultra UV Shade as your daily SPF. The “ultra” in both of these SPFs is an emollient powerhouse for your skin, like a tall drink of water.

Oh! And, speaking of water, let’s not forget to drink plenty of it. You also should be hydrating from the inside out.

The Takeaway

Skincare isn’t one size fits all – so when it comes to your routine, you have to pay extra attention to your skin’s needs. What your skin needs can depend on the weather or even if you’re in a big city vs. small town. Look for key changes in your skin, and adapt your routine with the seasons.

Finally, please call us if you feel too dry. We will review your routine and make custom changes specific to your needs. Schedule your consultation today and let us help you get started on your clear skin journey! Be consistent and always reach out to us with any questions you may have.

Cheers to clear!
